Me and my boyfriend walked to Undici on a Wednesday night because it was nearby and viewed a menu, deciding to sit down for a meal. The wait extended the hostess's original expectation; meanwhile bartenders asked us twice about drinks. The overall service and attention was prompt. I ordered the spaghetti with tomatoes and jumbo shrimp and he ordered the rigatoni with homemade sausage and pancetta. Spaghetti can vary wildly and I was admittedly worried about getting a bland or overly sweet sauce. Upon the first few bites I immediately found my dish to be interesting, but as I went on to discover the tasty tomato chunks, generous garlic shavings and basil seasoning I became thoroughly impressed. I at first declined a taste of the rigatoni based on it's appearance alone, but quickly agreet to a food swap. He was impressed with my dish while I agreed that his was excessively greasy and bland (shouldn't homemade sausage be more flavorful than average ground beef?) We had some difficulty communicating across the table due to the dining room noise and, to bring that to a climax, there was a birthday party upstairs. The decoration was psuedo-fine dining with a bad club-like lounge near the front bar. The waitress was busy or tired enough to overcharge us for one entree, but fixed it. If I return it will be to order take-out and avoid the noise and the rush of late night at Undici. Pros: Massive portions, food arrived quickly Cons: Noisy, inconsistent food quality
