Review content:
My friend and I heard recently that there are several bars in South Amboy, NJ all within walking distance from each other. Therefore, we decided to travel down there and check them out. Well, our first stop was Lagoda Saloon and it was actually our favorite. The beers were dirt cheap ($1.75) for a bottle. The bartenders were friendly and we were served right away. The jukebox was filled with all kinds of music with a little something from every genre including southern rock and country. The patrons there were a little clicky, which was expected for such a small town where everyone knows everybody. They kept to themselves and didn't seem to mind us, even though we weren't regulars. Since the bar is located so close to the train station, beware of some shady characters who may try to hustle you for money (both males and females have been known to do this here). Overall, this was a great dive bar and I highly recommend it. I'll definitely be going back. Stay away from the Landmark Tavern one block away, their prices are double the amount you pay at the Lagoda for the same drinks. Pros: Cheap Drinks, Great Dive, Close to train station, Friendly Service, Good Jukebox Cons: the occasional hustler
