Review content:
I was having problems with my car not starting.\r
\r
I called them and told them that I thought it might be the starter, and was looking for a price quote for a new starter. The woman said she'd call me back. I told her not to worry, that I would just drop my car off there shortly so they could look at it.\r
\r
When I dropped my car off- the man behind the desk presented me with a cost estimate for the starter. \r
\r
I told him that we first needed to make sure if the problem had to do with the starter or not. I started crying because the cost for a new starter was $700. I was completely overwhelmed by this and told him that I did NOT have the money for a new starter if that was indeed the problem with the car. \r
\r
He assured me that he would not do any work on the car- but that he would just check it out to see what was wrong with it. \r
He said, “It might not even be the starter. It sounds to me like a battery or an alternator problem.”\r
\r
I told him to not do any work on the car until he called me to tell me what was wrong with it. \r
\r
I told him that I did not want to sign the form that he gave me, because of the cost estimate on the form. \r
\r
He told me that signing the form simply “Gives us permission to operate the vehicle.” and that without signing the form- they could not look at my car. \r
\r
He assured me that they would not do any work on the car until they figured out what was wrong. \r
The man was rude, and kept saying, ""Listen, Ma'am, I'm not the one who broke your car.""\r
Two hours later, they called me to tell me that my car was complete, and that they had replaced the starter in it. Not only that- but they were going to charge me $1100 for it!!!!!!!\r
My boyfriend went down there and told them to take the starter out of the car. \r
We then took it to another mechanic who said there was absolutely nothing wrong with the starer. \r
\r
I took my car to Firestone because, like a lot of their customers, it is close to work and convenient. I would rather crawl on my hands and knees, down I-25 to get to work every day than to ever take my car to this place again. They are so dishonest and were completely rude to me from the beginning.\r
\r
Side note: I got TWO cost estimates from other mechanics, for new starters, and both of them were around $300 (for parts and labor). \r
