Monday of this week I call Hoffman Honda in Simsbury, CT to inquire about the only Acura they had on their website. I was told, the car had a deposit on it but had not yet sold and if it fell through they would call me. This Saturday morning at 8:30am (way to early) I received a call that woke me up. It was Anton and he said the deal on the Acura fell though and I could come down at 3pm to look at the car. I am 1 ½ hours away so I told him I had to rearrange my day and would call him back to confirm. Later that morning I called him back and left a message confirming I would be there around 3pm. At 2:30pm I received a call from Anton saying he saw my call but did not bother to listen to the message. I told him I was about an hour away. I arrive at the dealer and found Anton immediately, he was in the middle of something so he said hold on a minute. After 10 minutes of just standing there being ignored by him, I asked him where on the lot I could find the car. He would not answer the question and again said just a “one minute.” After another 5 minutes of being ignored I found him again and told him explicitly I was not leaving, but was going to go outside to browse the lot and look for the car. After looking for the car for 15 minutes with no luck, I went back inside and found Anton now on the phone with another customer (he had never bothered to look for me outside). After waiting in front of his desk for another 10 minutes he got off the phone and walked right past us and serviced another customer. I politely told him we were now in a hurry and he said “32 seconds.” Five minutes later (over 45 minute after first talking to him face to face), Anton finally came over to us. I asked again to see the car and he said “oh it sold but we have this Honda over here…” I then asked him why he did not bother to call me to tell me the car had sold and he said he was “too busy”. I then asked why he didn’t tell me the car had sold when we first walked into the dealer over 45 minutes ago. The look on Anton’s face said it all, he just wanted to sell me any car. Anton then fully admitted that he knew the car was sold before we even walked into the dealership. So not only did he not bother to call me or tell me when he spoke to me at 2:30pm, but he then hung us out to dry for almost an hour in the dealership. We immediately walked out of the dealer. I seriously doubt the Acura was even available again and in my opinion he used it as bait and switch to get us down there. Cannot believe a salesman thinks my time (3+ hours) was worth nothing and would be so disrespectful. The sales manager, William Sam, did not seem to care either. Please be wary of Mr. Bowtie Anton Smith and Hoffman Honda!
