Review content:
To be clear, I really like breakfast. It truly is the meal of kings. However, in this city, I've been disappointed again and again. With a few bright spots (Square Cafe perhaps), breakfast in this city stinks. I blame Eat 'n' Park and the attitude of ""meh, it's good enough"".
Thankfully where the local chain has so miserably failed, a new contender has stepped up to hopefully show this area that breakfast can be good, and served in a pleasant atmosphere.
The food is well prepared; eggs are NOT runny, toast is actually toasted with the butter melted (not the soggy, half-assed crap you get at EnP), you get fruit with just about everything and my favorite part is that they bring you your own pot of coffee! No begging and waving an empty cup of coffee at a non-existent server (EnP, I'm talking about you).
Service is wonderful! The wait staff is nice, friendly and anything else that a good wait staff should be. The never try to hustle you out when the check comes and they don't bring the check with your food (Ahem, EnP).
The dining room is airy and bright as well as wonderfully clean. If you ever end up having to wait to be seated, they have a pot of coffee in the waiting area--it's called hospitality you-know-who, you should give it a try!
The one thing that's a bit different is that they're not open past 2:30 as they're a self-proclaimed ""daytime cafe"". For me that does not matter as I have no expectation of having breakfast after 2:30 in the afternoon.
The last thing that I'll note is that they have a very nice list of their ""declarations"" which contains things like, no charges for split plates, right to friendly and fast service, etc. In most places this would be a load of marketing BS, but here they seem to adhere to these declarations and the customer is all the better for it.
I hope that more are put up around the area so that breakfast can again take it's rightful place as the king of meals! (meal of kings, whatever--it's good go and enjoy)
