Review content:
My son who was celebrating his 35th birthday, picked Hanabi because they offered sushi and his 4 year old daughter would be amazed by the knife throwing, grill before your eyes fare they offered. We made reservations and stated it was to celebrate a birthday and we were amazed when we arrived on a Saturday night and the restaurant seemed almost empty. We were seated, had a wonderful meal and tried to entertain the birthday boy until they acknowledged the big day. We waited rather impatiently for about 15 minutes and finally our young waiter came to the table and announced, ""Sorry the cake is taking so long but the kitchen is really backed up"". Well now, the surprise is out but knowing the 4 year old wants to sing, we wait. About 10 minutes later the waiter appears again and says, "" I'm really embarassed but I have to ask for your ID sir"". We all started laughing until we figured out that they weren't questioning his age but his date of birth. He complied (I'm sure I wouldn't have) and about 10 more minutes pass until the waiter sheepishly brings a VERY small slice of frozen chocolate cake to the table. We all sing, including the one waiter, and we finally pay the $130.00 bill and leave. As I was leaving I noticed the woman who seemed to be in charge so I stopped and told her that I was a little more than disappointed. She answered my complaint with, ""it is our policy to ask for ID's to prevent people from getting cake for free."" My reply , ""dinner $130.00, a sliver of cake free, the laughs our family will share about this place, priceless"". Now I know why the place was almost empty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pros: Fun for children but so is Chuckie Cheeze at 1/4th the price.
Cons: Average food, poor service and the worst management policies I have ever seen.
