The University of Akron has had troubles over the past five years which include hiring and firing of some of the top staff and retention of a number of key professors in certain departments. Any time a school has this kind of turnover, you need to ask why. The library needs to add a lot of books to allow students to do an adequate job in their research projects for classes. Many of the books are out of date and their are few copies of some of the newest research texts. Parking is tough during certain times of the day, but sometimes you can find a meter on the street in the nearby commercial areas. If you are considering entering the U of Akron, come to the campus and chat with people who are in classes in the department. Some departments have quality instructors, while others have a lot of problems. Do your homework before applying.
