Went in to look at digital cameras. Was asked if I was all set and as I was saying I wasn't, sales person almost answered the question for me and started to walk away. When I said I wasn't he acted surprised. I said none of the cameras work that were on display and was told that was just the way it was and they had no way of making them work because of some excuse about cameras changing how they work. This despite the fact Staples and Best Buy seem to have no problems making theirs on display work. I was offered no other assistance or help and was basically left on my own.
The irony of this is that I wasn't even going to go back into Olum's after a previous less than positive experience prior to this a month back. I had gone into to get one of their IN STOCK Air Conditioners and when I asked to purchase it, I was written up and then told they didn't have them there any more (perhaps out) and that I'd need to drive over to their JC location to pick it up. I wasn't offered by them to have someone bring it over as a convenience to me. I guess what is convenient for them (stocking everything in a separate location) is what they like despite the fact that isn't what is best for the customer. I then had to take the order to the desk where about 6 people stood around behind the counter while one person waited on a line of individuals. Eventually someone actually woke up and decided I was worthy of assistance at which point I said never mind and walked out. I didn't want it that bad I guess. Ultimately it saved me some money.
Needless to say, I won't go back and sadly I really had a desire to support the local business rather than the big box locations.
Pros: seemingly good selection
Cons: unhelpful customer service
