Short version: Quality Care Termite underbid, did a poor job, damaged our house, cost us 1,000 bucks, cost our insurance company 12,000 bucks, lied about extending our service, and we still have termites. Long version: all of the following is true and verifiable by photo evidence, insurance reports and third party inspectors. See, Quality Termite underbid another company when the previous owners were shopping for pest removal services. This was in compliance with the terms of escrow. Of course, the owners picked the lowest bid (bad news for us). On top of the usual spraying of termites, Quality was also contracted to tear down a wooden patio cover and rebuild it. Which they did. Within a month the cover was splitting lengthwise, looking like it was going to collapse. They sent a representative out after I called 7 or 8 times. He told me this was normal, and that I should seal it myself before it gets too rainy (we will come back to the splitting wood later). Next, the heavy rains hit us (December 2010) and our inside wall (adjoining where the patio cover meets the house) started getting very soggy. Then very wet. Then leaking all over our new laminate flooring. Huge puddles of water! Upon tearing out the wall, the abatement company (contracted by out insurance company) noted the screws from the patio cover had been driven right through the stucco and 2x4 frame and were wet and rusty. This was confirmed as the source of the leak by an inspection service (also from our insurance company). It was also noted by these companies that we also had a large amount of termites in the walls. Nice. As a courtesy, I invited Quality to inspect the damage themselves before going any further. First, the owner's son came out. He looked at the damage and the termite evidence and agreed they would need to spray again and informed me that the owner (his dad, Randy) would need to come by. And he did. This is where Randy looked at the splitting patio cover and told me that should not have happened (contrary to the first report) and they would be happy to rebuild it. Which I eventually declined -- so much damage had already been done, I wasn't about to let them touch my house again. But Quality did treat the termites (again). Randy also told me he would extend my contract a full extra year for my trouble (which they did not honor; my own fault for not getting it writing... Yes friends, the owner of Quality Termite lied to my face). So, our walls were torn out and replaced. Our *new* floors were torn out and replaced. The patio cover was torn down and replaced. We were without a significant portion of our house for 2 months. In the end, our deductible cost us 1k bucks. And our insurance company 12k. A few months after all this we contracted with Orkin to spray our house for ants, recurring every couple months. And they have found area upon area still infested with termites. And we just received a letter from Quality that our year of service is almost up... As they did not extend our service as promised by Randy, the **owner** of the company. Take my advice and steer clear of these charlatans. They are bad news, up and down, top to front!
