Review content:
When my silver double-heart necklace broke while polishing it, I called several jewelry repair stores. J's said it would only take 2-3 days. They were close to my house, and being new to Pasadena, I didn't know the reputation of any of these places. All I needed was a solder to hold the two hearts together. Honestly, this is probably the cheapest piece of jewelry I own, but it is very sentimental. I've had it for over 10 yrs and wear it everyday. When I left it with the jeweler, I was told I would get a call in a few days when it was ready. After 2 weeks, I hadn't heard anything. When I called several times, no one answered the phone. I went down there with my husband. The necklace, though soldered back together, was ruined. Solder spilled out from the joint. The high-polish side was scratched and had several divots in it, and the frosted side was all scratched up. There were several areas where you could see that he tried to buff out some scratches because the finish was completely disrupted. When I complained he took it back and said he would do a ""stone finish."" I asked what that meant. He didn't answer but went in the back and ground it more. That finish didn't match either. The necklace was ruined. He took the necklace out of my hand and told me I could either pay his bill and accept it like that OR he would keep the necklace and sell it to someone who would appreciate it. I couldn't believe it. He wouldn't let me hold it or look at it again without paying. I snatched it off the counter when he set it down and my husband paid because we didn't know what to do. Looking in his jewelry cases, there are several other pieces that are obviously ""repaired"" poorly. I wouldn't be surprised if this was how he kept his store stocked. It looks like a pawn shop at best in there, and I should have never taken my necklace there.
Cons: Dishonest, ruined my jewelry
