Have always heard good things about Delmonico's so finally decided to try it tonight for my birthday. After checking out the menu on line, we were really looking forward to visiting but shortly after being seated, our waiter informed us that they were out of lasagna as well as meatballs ???? We could not believe it! An ITALIAN Steakhouse... with no lasagna OR meatballs! How could this be? Maybe late in the evening I could understand but this was 5:00 p.m.! My wife and sister were extremely disappointed since they were both anticipating the advertised ""one pound lasagna."" They ended up ordering pasta.... but with no meatballs, of course! Never heard of such a thing.
All in all it wasn't one of our better dining experiences. Probably will not be returning.
Since posting this review, I was contacted by the regional V.P. of Delmonico's . He explained to me that there was a major ground beef recall in the Utica area at the time and rather than possibly jeopardizing the health of their patrons, they decided to remove items from the menu made with ground beef until the matter was resolved. This was the reason they were not serving the lasagna and meatballs. I received a gift certificate in the mail a couple days later. Great customer relations on their part. I was impressed!
