Review content:
When we came in our dog was walking into walls and appeared completely blind. There is a test called an ""ERG"" to see if our animal is a candidate for surgery. This shows if there is any function behind the eye. Otherwise there is no point to proceed ahead. Dr. Silverman went ahead and did the ERG the next day and found that our dog did have function behind the eyes -- no one without the training or equipment as an animal eye ophthalmologist could recognize this without doing this test. There a few steps to the full ERG. If there is not function right away, Dr. Silverman stops so he doesn't charge the client more than the cost of just the ERG alone. Our full ERG test came back beautifully. Our animal was a candidate for cataract surgery. We had been treating for inflammation. Because all steps of the ERG came out very well, it meant we were in the clear to schedule surgery. The cataract surgery came out great! Our dog now runs and chases balls like she did when she was a puppy. She is a completely different dog than when we came in. Without this test we never would have known she could have gotten her sight back. And some of the costs from the ERG were removed from the costs of surgery. We were also seen a few times at no charge within 30 days to be sure everything was going well. If your dog or cat needs cataract surgery, this place is excellent. It is worth looking into whether a seemingly blind dog or cat can be saved. We were glad we did.
