We passed Hungry Howie's a few times with comments from Hubby about having them around the Detroit area as he was growing up. He did mention to get the pizza ""sub"" if I ever picked up something from there on the way home, BUT he NEVER mentioned why to buy the ""subs"". Now I know why he wanted the so called ""subs"". They are not on sandwich type buns, nope...they start with a pizza round. They stuff it with your choice of filling (he had the pizza and I had the turkey club) and with smooth gooey cheese baked to make the crust crispy, chewey and delightful. One word of caution these are HUGE so don't order a salad, unless you want to save the wide assortment of garden goodies they pack into it for another meal. The size of this sandwich, the superb quality and friendly service along with the minimum cost makes this such a great deal. You are gonna love this Calzone type of hot sandwich just as I do.
