Review content:
We choose Probst to reupholster some of our living room furniture; we really wish we hadn't. Nothing went smoothly in the process. First, Probst lost the cushions that were original to our vintage chairs. There are very few examples of these chairs in the United States, which were made by a renowned master craftsman in the 1930s, and it was important to remake the cushions like the original. When they were lost, we had to rely on photographs we had taken of the chairs before bringing them to Probst. The photographs we took were virtually ignored, and the pillows were made largely out of proportion and with the wrong seams. After we complained they were remade, and then remade incorrectly three additional times. At one point the owner's daughter made an appointment to come to our home to remeasure the chair frames, and she was a no show. We had taken off work to meet her, so that was frustrating. The pillows we finally received were the right shape, but they were sewn so recklessly that down feathers were flying out into our living room, and we had to return to Probst yet again. We were never satisfied with the final result. On top of everything, the owner was rude to us when we brought problems to her attention. An additional problem was the fact that the job was about one days worth of work (once you had the fabric in hand) but took six months to complete. The owner refused to compensate us for any of our trouble. In the end, I am just amazed at the incompetence in the management and the upholstery service. The front desk staff is perfectly nice, and one member of the staff said she felt sorry for everything we had been put through. I suggest you try the upholsterer on Oak Street instead of Probst.
Pros: nice front desk staff
Cons: everything else
