Review content:
My husband and I decided to dine at Spain recently on a Friday evening. We have friends and relatives that rave about Spain. We have been there in the past and while not exceptional, the experiences have been ok. On this occasion my meal arrived so overcooked that I could not chew through the meat. We called our waiter over and explained the problem. I asked for a simple fish dish as a replacement. It took the kitchen about 20 minutes to prepare it. In the meantime, my husband asked to have the manager sent to our table. We watched the waiter speak to the manager. The manager continued to bustle around the dining room, greeting customers. He did not come to our table. My meal was finally served and my husband asked again to see the manager. Once again I saw the waiter speak to the manager. He continued to chat with other customers and finally came to our table. When he arrived he just stood there without introducing himself of asking if he could help us. My husband pointed out that it shouldn't have taken two requests to get him to our table. We then explained that the meat was unacceptable. The manager then said that I had ordered it medium well and that's the way they cooked it. I explained that it was far beyond medium well and it couldn't be chewed. He said they only carry the finest quality meats and he would bring out the raw chops so we could see the quality. I told him that wasn't necessary, nor was it the point. He blew us off without an apology and left our table. When the bill arrived, my chops were off the bill and the fish dish was on it. We will NEVER dine at Spain again. Had the manager been cordial and expressed an ounce of concern, we wouldn't have such a strong negative feeling about the restaurant. Restaurants in South County deal with lots of one time tourists throughout the summer, but it's the local residents that support them year round. They would be wise to treat all of their customers with care. Cons: Noisy, crowded dining room, rude management
