I am sooooo happy this new restaurant has been added to the little restaurant row south of Logan Blvd. on California. I have absolutely no idea why they would keep any vestige of the former restaurant (Rustik) since that place was such a bomb. Frankly, it keep me away until having dinner there last night with a friend. I was very, very pleasantly surprised. The service was excellent, the margaritas (I had the house) were very tasty (and I'm a bit picky with my margaritas) and the food was great from start to finish. My friend and I decided to take advantage of the pre fixe option, so I'll go in order of course-- \r The soup was a cream base with a hint of allspice or something similar. It was absolutely delicious and we both practically licked the bowls. We ordered different appetizers so we could share and both were very good. One was an empanada with chorizo. I'm usually not a fan of chorizo since it's usually pretty greasy but that was definitely not the case here. The other option was filled with roasted pork...just as tasty! My friend got the roasted pork entree that was served on a banana leaf with some sautéed red onion (I think) and it tasted as good as it looked. I was surprised and happy to see scallops on the menu and ordered that without hardly looking at the other options. I'm so glad I did! I almost always get scallops when I'm out and I can honestly say these were some of the best I've had. The quality and preparation were fantastic. As for dessert, I'm not much of a dessert person and neither is my friend but it came with the pre fixe offer so we ordered different things. I liked the crepes more than whatever the other one was but both were good and I'm sure I'd have more to say on that point if I was into my sweets.\r \r Overall, the experience was great and we both vowed to be back! \r \r Oh, and one other point....I printed off a coupon they had posted on YELP that has since been updated -- $10 off a tab of $25 or more -- and offered it without thinking it probably didn't apply to the pre fixe. They said it was not intended to apply but graciously honored it anyway. Needless to say, the server made it back in the tip after that! Pros: Creative mexican. Scallops were awesome! Cons: Hmmmm...some people seem to complain about the prices?
