I’ve driven by a hundred times but with the funky name, I always presumed Cake was a cupcake store. Upon closer inspection I realized it’s one of SLC’s Best kept salon secrets! When you walk in the door Cake offers a hip and lively décor. The vibe is laid back and comfortable – it’s a refreshing change from the intimidating and overly booked feel of other larger downtown salons. You feel comfortable as soon as you step inside. The owner, Randy Topham is both a Redken stylist and educator. I made an appointment with Chase, one of the stylists — I wanted to have a bit of a change and she offered some great suggestions with both cut and color. Not only that, but she was also really easy going, lots of great conversation and laughing. At the end of my cut and color she surprised me with a 50% off First time client discount — super cool. I’ve already booked my next appointment! Cake is the place.
Pros: great stylists, cool setting, great deal
