Review content:
As a three-year resident of the Mission, I've been searching for the following magic restaurant combo: flavorful Mexican food made with healthy ingredients (meaning no nap required immediately following lunch or dinner), an appealing atmosphere (meaning no florescent lights to draw attention to tired eyes at the end of a long day), affordable prices (meaning I can become a regular), and a menu which broadens the definition of Mexican food (meaning Tex Mex ain't Mexican). \r \r I'm happy to report that my quest is now successful! Regalito sets itself apart from any other Mexican food spot, in the MIssion and beyond. Our waiter shared the restaurant philosophy after our meal - free range chickens &organic ingredients. Everything prepared fresh in a kitchen that about 10 customers can admire from counter seating. The atmosphere is intimate, welcoming, modern, sophisticated and playful all at the same time.\r \r I've been three times. The rotisserie chicken seems to be their signature dish - perfect for folks hanging on to Atkin's diets or seeking out high protein meals. My niece ordered the steak. Since she's five, I ate much of it, and it was delicious. The chicken enchiladas are very tasty - I especially love the red sauce. Haven't tried the pork leg, but it's on the list for next time. My favorite item on the menu may be the guacamole. They make it with high guacamole integrity: no ""stretching"" of the avocado with mayo or some other unnatural substance. It is avocado ""straight up"" with tomato, onion, touch of green pepper, salt and spices. Perfect. The lemonade is awesome - very tart. I think they got their license to sell beer and wine, so now you can enjoy the healthy food and ambiance with sangria or a cold beer. \r \r One word of caution - the largest table they can seat seems to be about 6 people, with 4 ideal, so keep your dinner party small. Small is the new big after all. Or, you can get take-out. They seem to be set up to make take-out quick and easy. Enjoy! Pros: Quality of Food, Ambiance, Price
