It is sad to me that a n adult can't use bumpers on his own at a bowling venue that has bumpers because the rule is that only if an adult has a kid with him can the adult use the bumpers. Using bumpers is an interesting, enjoyable, helpful experience for adults - not just kids.
Cons: can't use bumpers if you're 29 years of age
