Disappointing and sad on most levels with a few exceptions. We hear good things about brunch but this dinner was a big, big let-down. \r \r We went at 6:00 on a Friday. There was only 1 waitress on duty with 1 apparently brand new bus girl, no host/hostess. The waitress was running, but pleasant and professional, though slow because of being the only one. \r \r One of the first things she told us was that even though pizzas are on the menu, you're not serving them anymore, things are changing and you just hadn't printed new menus yet. Are you kidding me? Print the menues or keep offering the items until you can, but to just cut out probably a fourth of your main dish offerings with no alternatives - oh, just ignore the last page of the menu? Really?! \r \r Our appetizer (goat cheese) was very good, but the main courses barely mediocre and very disappointing. My wife's ginger-cashew-tofu looked great but the sauce was tasteless. \r \r I ordered the steak which was a mis-steak. I ordered medium rare but it came medium well, small for the price, hacked into uneven slices, dry, unseasoned, and tasteless. The ""bed of greens"" the menu promised looked like it came out of a bag and was a large pile, no dressing, oil or seasoning to be noticed, with the meat dumped on top. Even the steak knife was sad; it looked like it had gone through the garbage disposer, all the finish was gone, the wooden handle feathered and faded by too much bleach, missing a rivet, and the blade was bent! What's disappointing about that is the number of people, from the dishwasher to the waitress, who had to handle that knife and could have just thrown it away. Instead, it was shoved under the meat and pushed out to the table. \r \r Even there on the table, there was a graphic ad for ""Seattle's Best Female Impersonators!"" Just what I wanted to stare at during dinner. What thought process accepts that as an a good match for a neighborhood family restaurant? \r \r Years ago we loved Julia's; my wife heard recently from a coworker that it has gone downhill, and sadly, that was definitely our experience, which from the signs I saw, point back to a lack of concern by management which is carrying through the organization. We will have to think long and hard about ever going back to a Julia's. Pros: Homey, decent pasta Cons: Indifferent management, food prep
