It is truly a business. They could not care any less for your loss. My aunt passed away, and since she lived close to the Ortiz Funeral home on Southern Blvd, I figured it would easier for the family to pay there last respects to her there. I was informed upfront, They only take cash, certified check or money order. No credit card. The cost had to be paid prior to any viewing. This was all done as they requested. We asked for a closed casket, my Aunts wishes, when her young daughters arrived, for the viewing, the casket was open. OUTRAGED!!!!! My sister, who was there not even an hour prior to the begining of the viewing informed them repeatedly, that it was a closed casket viewing, they still left the casket open. The arraigments witht the cemetary, had not been finalized, because no one in the Ortiz office informed the secretary to call the cemetary to inquire. But they made sure to collect the money upfront. The sympathy cards, I had to go and inquire for them because they never put them out. The death certificates, had to be requested multiple times, after paying for them, but became available two days later. Im scared to even consider that fact that my Aunt wanted to be cremated and what I'm getting back as her ashes. Do yourselves a favor and your loved ones, turn and walk away from the Ortiz Funeral Home. Don't put your loved ones in there hands for there final resting needs. \r
