I'm always amazed by what you can get for $1. I hit the dollar store about once a month... when I'm looking for prizes for a kids activity, or an inexpensive thank-you gift.
You'll find candles and knick knaks that look like $5-$8 items. And I've even found a few things in there that I resell on eBay for $10 each!!!
Everytime I go in there to buy something for someone else, I wind up finding something for myself. Last time it was picture frames (an amazing selection), the time before that it was damask cloth table napkins. You just have to check it out! Set aside a good hour to look around... there's some great stuff in there, but it's not very well organized, so you have to dig a bit.
