Review content:
I can't recommend this contractor. After making a 9 a.m. appointment weeks in advance, I receive that morning a message that they were rescheduling me for 2 p.m., costing me job income on work I scheduled for the afternoon but couldn't do with their interruptions. They badly scratched the wooden floors at the center of two rooms by not asking for permission or help to move furniture, and they broke door hardware that can no longer be matched. When they gave me the $750 bill and I gave them the $50 web coupon, they refused it---first saying that the $50 had already been taken off at the time of the estimate (I didn't even discover the coupon until two days before the job and no coupon had ever been mentioned by either of us at the time of estimate) and then claiming that the coupon must be presented at the time of the estimate (also not true--check the ServiceMagic site ""special offers""--it says only that the coupon can't be used with other offers). I finally told the workers (who feared that they would get grief from their boss if they left without payment) that the boss and I should speak before I pay. Little did I expect that ""the boss"" (who had been pleasant the few times in the past that I had spoken to him by phone) would then show up within two hours at my house at 9 p.m. with two police cars asking to be paid immediately. He claims he called my cell phone (no record of it) and home phone (no message left) and rang the doorbell (no one in the house heard anything until the police rang) before calling the police. Apparently, this contractor had been ""stiffed"" by another customer of $3000 recently and was sensitive about the possibility of not being paid by me (I had never threatened not to pay). His men had not even told him about the scratched floors. I assume we'll work this out. But c'mon....calling the police? A 9 p.m. visit? There are lots of competent electricians around. I won't risk using All City Electrical again.
Pros: seemed pleasant on phone when making appointment, followed up to confirm timing
Cons: changed time at last minute, caused damage, police came to home
