Review content:
For several years i had worked at a local establishment where we regularly recommended this restaurant to our guests (who were from out of town). I was dissapointed when i tried it myself with a date on Christmas Eve (2007). On a scale of 1-10, i would rate the atmosphere-6, food-5, and service-9...more detail below\r \r As stated in other reviews, part of the attraction is supposed to be the romantic ambiance. However, i was bothered at the noise factor, even though i reserved a more private seating upstairs. It's a bit distracting when having a conversation and not really romantic. Also, while the lighting is dim, as to be expected and preferred, the decor seems somewhat outdated or old fashion. Not really a modern feeling, atleast upstairs (to be fair).\r \r My date ordered the Filet mignon w/ shrimp, which i also sampled for myself. Even while being the most expensive meal on the menu, both the meat & shrimp, and even the mashed potatoes, were really quite bland. I had the BBQ glazed pork chop w/potatoes and, i hate to say it, but it just was not very good or tasty. Both plates included the meat (decent size) in the center of plate on top of 1 to 2 cups of mashed potatoes. It did look beautiful and all the choices sound great, but i would not recommend either dish due to lack of flavor or needing better preparation. By itself, i found the portion size of each dish to require an additional side order to really have a complete meal.\r \r The service from our waiter and the wine recommendation was the only postive i took away. I would have liked to have spoken to the manager but i did not want to make a scene in front of my guest which would have taken away from our special Christmas gift exchanging during the meal. Plus, how does one rescue a meal that we thought just tasted blah? Overall, with 1 appetizer, 2 drinks, and 2 plates, i spent about $140. I really think you can get higher quality food, and atmosphere, for the same amount of $$.
