My 3 year old went there 3 months.He is much like kids his age, but may have Asberger's. His big issues are transitions. Accommodations are simple, and he is a delightful boy with high intelligence. His teachers adore him and we never had issues with his old daycare with no accomodations. I tried many times to communicate simple things you can do most of which involve proper supervision.\r
The director has reported his ""rudeness"" a typical misunderstanding of AS kids, ""pushing and biting"" each time it seems usually involve an older child, teasing and taunting to set him off, or an event on the play ground with poor supervision - usually teenagers. I have had issues with rude and dismissive behavior from the director any time I requested things that could be done simply to help my son transition and adjust.\r
After some notes like ""wouldn't participate"" in singing and activities and reports of biting and hitting (which he doesn't do elsewhere, so I assume that he is being left to his own defenses on the playground from what I am seeing with older kids taunting or setting him off) I gave the director a nice letter printed from a AS Parent site explaining some typical behavior, and simplle adjustments mostly patience and understanding . I highlighted things that may be typical for my son to be helpful. This morning I got a long nasty note from her and a threat that we would need to find new daycare. Obvious discrimination. We do not have these issues at school, where he is being properly supervised. The diector said she didn't ""have time to speak with me"", and that she has ""bent over backwards to keep him from having a melt down"" and they are not set up for ""special needs"" , Wouldn't you expect that any caregiver treat your child with any special condersideration? All children are unique and have their own special needs. \r
I told her that I thought it was a ""christian"" daycare and that ""these were not christian values"" \r
I am shocked at the way we were treated.
