As I always savoured the Italian Bait Plate Special of Scungelli,Calimari,Mussels and Clams with thier signature HOT marinara sause,Vincent's used to be one of my favorite restaurants . As the years progressed and the popularity of the place increased not because of the quality of the the fare but the quantity . This may have been what was resposible for making it popular and crowed and thus turning it into a factory atmosphere churnning out meals that are nothing but mediocre.\r
My recent visit I was very dissapointed with both the food and the service. I had my usual calimari parmigiana and my spouse had the eggplant. Underneath the warm tomato sause and the melted chese the rest of the food was cold. After the meal was completed the server broaght the check and I paid him in cash. He asked if I wanted any change and I said no thank you and he replied thank you very much. Me and the wife put on our coats and headed for the Door. As we exited the waiter came running after us asking us if we forgot to pay the check or more or less insinuating that we were trying to play dine and dash. We were asked to pay again until they reconcile their reciepts. Since I knew I handed the money to the waiter and know they have survailence cameras we told them to go to the video tape. After about 20 minutes they came back and stated that the tape did not indicate that I paid the check. We were denied to view the tape ourselves which I felt was not fair. Under duress I gave them my credit card to pay the check. As they were processing the card all of a sudden the waiter comes running over to say they without any explanation that thy found the money. They did give me the money back for the inconveinence. Maybe if this place wasn't such a zoo the service and quality would go back to the way it was in the past. I don't write these reviews to be critical. I write them to provoke change for the better.
