-Broomfield Location- August 13, 2009 - Doesn't like it - In the last 6 years I have had some doubts as to who should be allowed to call themselves both a restaurant, and/or authentic. Today I need look no further. It is clear to me that the look of this establishment far outweighs their ability to deliver. From the rude behavior of the staff (in particular the management it seems); to the food which I sent back the first time as it was not the right order. I found this to be very troubling because at the time I was only one of two patrons (the other patron was already eating so to get my order wrong was very disconcerting). In addition, the staff actually argued with each other in the dining area. This behavior I would expect at a Denny's, but I wasn't as prepared as I needed to be. My arrival preceded a small crowd of 15 or so people. As everyone arrived the complaints continued. I came with a colleague expecting to keep it simple, my appetizer was just about as basic as you can get ""The Dipping Platter"" which consisted of Guacamole, Salsa & Nacho Cheese. But when it arrived it was like a crime scene both in presentation and quality. The cheese was DREADFUL and in no way could be confused with anything authentic. It was actually a first in my career. I could have used a block of Velveeta and chips from the local high school cafeteria to create a far more suitable substitute. Did I mention that we waited for more than 20 minutes for the appetizer to arrive? My colleague ordered the Mini Rellenos which were not even edible due to what I can only imagine would be caused by the cook sleeping on the job. This came out nearly charred on all sides and was described to me as very tough to chew. In the end we pushed our plates and drinking glasses to the side and gave up (which isn't hard to do when your glass isn't refilled without your own request). When I was about to point out our unmet expectations the management had already been tending to other complaints from patrons abroad. In the end the management seemed confused and unsure of how to control their establishment & employees. We left without confronting the restaurant operators (whoever they may be) as they were clearly pre-occupied with other customers and their problems. I'm sorry to say that I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone, EVER. Further, in an establishment where you are pretending to authenticate your cuisine, best at least keep your argumentative staff where the patrons can't see! (This will give the illusion that you are Managing). Sorry to say that this just doesn't represent what Denver Dining is. If you aren't from this great city please don't judge our many wonderful food depots by this very poor example. Paul Gifford - Denver Food Critic (1992 - 2009) Pros: The Aesthetics are Gorgeous Cons: Food and Staff just didn't measure up.
