Review content:
I recently knocked off my driver-side mirror by hitting a building while backing up.
I went to the local dealer, who gave me an estimate of $362 + tax for the parts and labor. The dealer told me that they would have to take off the door and replace all of the wiring (my mirrors are powered) and that the whole process would take 2.5 hours.
I took it to a second place who inspected it and told me that they would order an after-market part, paint it, and install it. Their estimate was just under $200 after tax. They gave me a printout that said the labor estimate was 0.7 hours (which doesn't include the 0.6 hours to paint the part).
I then took it to these guys -- Westbrook Paint & Body. I elected to not get the new mirror painted (I figured it would serve as a reminder to back up more carefully). They told me it would take ""15 minutes or so, maybe less"" (which turned out to be less than 5 -- I watched them do it). I walked out of the place having spent just over $45 on the whole repair.
I will definitely be returning for any sort of body work I need. Highly recommended!
