Review content:
Have long been a fan of washington sq dating back to the hathaway days. Although I must admit when the new chef took over a couple of years ago, the food was even better. I was excited to learn about the Beacon street tavern in jan from the owner gerry (who recomends reserve wine and works the floor nightly) and after a long wait, finally checked it out. We started with the best lobster chowder I have ever had and the arugula salad ( also very good) . Then the chicken and the seared tuna, both of which were better than wonderful. For desert we had 8 oysters (4 island creek and 4 steamboat ) over shaved ice with all the sauces and off we were. Without our bottle of wine we were out of there for about $70 which almost seemed to inexpensive for the meal we had just eaten. Overall I would give the Beacon Street Tavern a 9 1/2 out of 10. \r

P.S I didn't notice the hamburger that the other reviews mentioned on the menu at all . I know that the washington sq tavern has a good one though! Who would really order a burger anyway with all the other great Items on the menu.
Pros: great food at good value and on of the best wine lists in the city
Cons: new place, needs a little fine tuning on service
