My husband and I have 3 children, which have been patients of Lakeside Children's Clinic from the day of their birth. My oldest is 11 yrs, middle is 4 yrs and youngest is 9 weeks. In the beginning, our wait time was within an hour; however, over the past few years, I have noticed that the wait time has been apx 2 -3 hours. Just today, my newborn had an appointment to get his 2 month shots. I called in advance to confirm the time and was told that the doctor was running late and to take my time; I arrived 15 minutes later than my appointment time. After an hour of waiting, I questioned the nurse for a time when she felt it would be our turn. She explained that there were several patients in front of us and that they could not commit to a time. I reminded the nurse that my appointment time was supposed to be the commitment. I further explained to her that I could not wait much longer and that I would make a new appointment. After thinking about it, I changed my mind, and was told that the nurse still had my file and that it would not be a problem. The doctor then sent his nurse to tell us that we could either make another appointment or wait until all of his other patients had been seen. All 3 of my children have seen this same doctor (Kappel) for the last 4 years. I was shocked! His attitude toward my family was not only inconsiderate, but it was unacceptable. As I voiced my aggravation to his nurse, another patient behind me stated, ""They don't care about you here."" Needless to say, Dr. Kappel and Lakeside Children's Clinic lost 3 patients today. After 11 years of service, I would assume that the doctors would have a little more respect toward their clientele. I do not encourage anyone to use Lakeside Children's Clinic for their children. There are many other great pediatricians in the area that belong to children's clinics that are staffed more appropriately to meet the needs of your children and in a timely and considerate manner.
