Review content:
The Linkery is the most aggressive eatery in San Diego. Marlies Wasterval, the chef of this two dining room casual bistro is constantly changing up it's dinner menu and implimenting fresh and rare ingredients into her largely successful repertoire. We were in on Sunday and started our meal with their version of artisan PB&J. House made pepita butter and anaheim chile with cranberry jelly on crostini bread. it was delicious! My friend is addicted to the greenbeans that are soaked in ginger soy sauce and grilled over an open fire. She's a vegetarian and we are both happy to see that the linkery is expanding it's vegetarian menu to include such delights as grilled portobello with a rosemary polenta cake and broccoli with a creamy hazelnut sauce. Another of our veggie favorites is the tofu al maiz, grilled tofu, tomato and queso fresco layered in grilled corn tortillas and smothered in roasted tomatillo salsa. If you're like me, and you just cant' get enough protein, try the grilled tasmanian trout! it's covered in roasted corn and red pepper salsa and coupled with avacado mash and lemongrass quinoa. Their specialty is grilled sausage. They typically feature three new sausages every week that you can order stuffed in an artisan roll, along side any of their mains or smothered in cheese laying atop a pile of choucroute. I have not have choucroute this good since frankfurt! I could go on and on about this place as it has become our second home. it's an awesome place to take friends if you want a lowkey friendly environment with greatfood and a brilliant beer and wine selection.
Pros: Friendly Staff, Moderate Prices, beer and wine list
Cons: not a fan of the new no tipping automatic gratuity policy
