I needed someone to shield me from the IRS, just like the commercials I saw. Just got my audit papers from the agent at the IRS. We are retired and have rental houses, and also investment property that we flip for profit. Whenever there is any profit :).
The agent disallowed depreciation on the rental property. He said it was like inventory, because he asked me if i ever intended to sell it and I said yes.
The CPAs at this company said they represented cases like mine before, so I hired them. During the consultation, they took out tax books and showed me how you can have different types of property on the same tax return. They were professional, explained in detail how things are calculated.
My wife and I felt like we had that shield we needed against the IRS. We've had prompt contact with them getting receipts and other docs together. They haven't met with the agent yet, but after talking to other CPAs, they agreed with what we were told. I just had to share the experience.
There are CPAs who do this, without being afraid of the IRS. You don't have to hire some high priced lawyer, who won't even return your phone calls.
