Review content:
We continued our tour of nice eating establishments on Tuesday, July 10, 2007 with Macke's (I can't pronounce it either). I had heard the place was well hidden in the back of graces plaza in green hills so expected the search. Thank goodness I had heard that it was inside and upstairs or we may have missed it but fortunate for us we found it. AND, the food was wonderful. My wife and I will typically share one appetizer and one salad, each get an entree and then share a nice dessert. This worked very well at Macke?s. \r
We had the pear and blue cheese quesadilla as the appetizer and it was wonderful ? almost large enough for a meal and so good we wanted to eat it all but knew it we did, we would not be able to complete the meal. The salad was just the right size ? they split it for us and the combination of goat cheese, spinach, pine nuts and slightly sweet dressing was great. Our entrees were wonderfully prepared ? she had the fresh salmon and I had the lamb. Our food was timely, well prepared and tasted great. The dessert ? I am a push-over for key lime pie was a surprising alternative to the normal key lime pie ? this example was well-prepared by the chef and was an extremely light take to the standard fare which we both enjoyed. I would highly recommend Macke?s as a venue if you have the chance. For the meal described above, expect to pay $100 but you could order less expensive entrees and get by for less. We also took sample of the bar and order a nice bottle of pinot noir which was obviously overpriced but I haven?t found a eatery in Nashville that will charge equitably for a bottle ? they all have to make 300%.\r
Overall, a wonderful evening and meal ? also note they have a private that can seat approximately 12 which I will probably use the next time I have clients in.
Pros: Service and quality of the food
Cons: somewhat hidden which is not necessarily bad
