Businiess name:  Beignet Cafe

Review content:
Beignet Café was in a word, surreal. When we walked in we had high hopes. We were just walking around after riding the trolley and saw it and decided to get some beignets and coffee. We sat down and the lady came up and asked us what we want, but we weren't ready so she went off to assist another table who hated their food. When she came back she brought us water. Only they were in plastic to go cups. Everyone else we could see had glass for their water. Perhaps they ran out of clean glasses. That would not surprise me. My boyfriend's parents decided they wanted to order a macchiato. Her response was ""What is a macchiato?"" (It was listed on the menu as a choice) I'm thinking that should have been the time to leave, but we stayed. They decided to get Caramel lattes instead. Of course they were going to get a flavor added (raspberry) because there is a giant list of them on a board above the register. ""Oh no we don't have most of those."" was her response to a flavor request other than caramel. I got the espresso and it was not bad really. About 15 minutes after we got our coffee we finally got the beignets or as we call them funnel cakes. It was a heavy thick dough and it really tasted more like a funnel cake than a beignet. We suggested they change their name to the Funnel Cake Café. We probably won't ever go back. The person next to us ordered fried oysters and they had to be sent back and his second batch was just as bad. He said they were like trying to eat chicken gizzards. This was just horrifying to me. I'd stick with Gibson's donuts or something, even if they are on the other side of town.
