Review content:
I brought an old 1972 John Deere Model 56 to Leif's in September 2010 with a broken connecting rod. The repair is very involved, but it took him almost a year to repair the mower and get it back to me. The repair cost was considerable, as would be expected. The engine ran for half an hour before the governor flywheel shattered. The proprietor would not warranty his engine work, saying he had visually checked the governor, that it wasn't visually damaged, that the mower was not originally brought in for this problem and therefore would not covered under any warranty. So, he took a year to fix my mower, chose not to replace a $10 part while the engine was under his responsibility, blamed me for the new damage, and refused to warranty his work. To add insult to injury, I left the mower with him while trying to figure out how to repair the damage that was not warrantied. The mower was in fairly good shape when I left it with him, having very seldom been ever left out in the elements. He left it out in the rain and snow for several months. The paint is now peeling in multiple spots, and there is rust where it was not before.
If he had not wanted to do this work on an older mower, he should have said so in the first place. I would have respected that and gone elsewhere for this particular problem. I have done other business here in the past, but will now take my business elsewhere.
