Review content:
WORST PROPERTY MANAGEMENT EVER. I rent a duplex in Green Hills, which I originally rented through Tarkington Realty. I was not given an option when Tarkington signed their properties over to Brookeside Properties. Since the switch, I have filled out multiple maintenance requests for the same problems, which have never been completed. For example, all winter my electric bills were through the roof... $250+ for less than 1000 sq. ft., yet my house was never nearly as warm as the temperature was set to. I put in maintenance requests twice during the winter. They sent someone out within 2 days each time. However, BOTH times, the gentlemen put their hands up to the vents, and said something like, ""Well it seems to be blowing warm."" No one ever looked at the actual heating unit. So then yesterday, when I finally turned on my A/C...nothing. It was blowing air, but was almost 90 degrees in my house. I left 3 messages at Brookeside, and never received a call back from the manager who I left a message for. Finally, I received a call today from the maintenance man himself saying that he was at my house. No warning from the management before! I was at work but I left so that I could get the situation resolved. The maintenance men said that the whole heating and a/c unit is broken and no wonder it wouldn't get hot or cold and my bills were so high. This is the first time anyone has even looked at the unit! In fact, they said before I got back to the house, they looked at my duplex neighbor's unit too just to see if her unit was similar to mine, and hers wasn't working either. I asked her if she had noticed problems with it, and she said yes, she called Brookside and left a message yesterday but never received a call back. This is only one example of the many problems I have had switch the property was switched over to Brookside. Another important thing to note is that Brookside has not been holding up the lease agreement as signed with Tarkington, and I have had to check the lease agreement and remind them of terms. Specifically, my lease requires me to give a 30 day move out notice, though I got a letter from Brookside that said I had to give written notice 90 days before moving out or would be penalized. Once I checked my lease agreement and finally got in touch with a manager, they agreed that was incorrect. If you can avoid renting from Brookside, I would suggest doing so. They are accumulating a lot of properties in Green Hills and obviously cannot keep up with the demands.
