Review content:
My husband and I had stayed at this hotel last fall and had a pleasant experience despite the unsavory neighborhood. We had an issue with the carpet being wet that was very strange. Apparently this hotel is refurbished and the floors beneath the carpet are not even. When there is a rain, the water collects into the dips of the floor and creates wet spots in the carpet. We thought it was a one time thing, but it was unpleasant to walk on wet carpet most of the week. We could not change rooms because they were fully booked. (FYI: They offered no discount.) I booked this hotel last week (the only one left due to a film festival in NYC) and had the very same wet carpet experience and was changed into a different room facing the street. I should have kept the wet carpet! This hotel faces several bars and the noise is deafening all night long. That was the start of the barrage of problems. My TV did not work-- it kept going to fuzz. The engineers could not fix it. I ordered a town car for a business meeting from a clerk at the front desk who apparently called one of his friends rather than a reputable company. A car that looked like a family of ten had been living in it showed up. Duct tape on the seats, filthy, etc. All in all, this hotel reflects the neighborhood that it is located in--sketchy, at best. Hotel class and sophistication are reflected in the service and the staff and this hotel is lacking in both. Pros: Comfy beds, nice light Cons: Street noise, rude service
