We made an appointment for a free consultation, having no knowledge of midwifery. After arriving for our appointment, we were soon ushered into an examining room and waited there for maybe 15-20 minutes before a midwife finally arrived. When she entered the room, she very quickly greeted us and then immediately said, ""What do you want to know because I really don't have time to talk to you right now."" I replied that I didn't wish to be rushed and that if I needed to reschedule then I would do so. The midwife agreed, saying that would be better and then just turned around and left the room. And that was that. We left the office, saying nothing more to anyone. When I got home, I was really ticked off so I called the office and asked to speak to the CNM's supervisor. I received a return call fairly quickly and I was able to spill my frustrations openly and comfortably. The supervisor was very apologetic and said that she would have a talk with the CNM. She stayed on the phone with me for probably an hour answering all of the questions that I taken with me to the appointment, giving me much comfort. About a week later, I miscarried. I returned to the office, after calling and speaking to the on-call midwife, and as luck would have it, the midwife that saw me was the one I had the bad encounter with. This time she was very empathetic and kind, not rushed. Comfortable experience, considering the sad reason for the visit. I did not end up returning on my future pregnancy due to insurance reasons and I'm not sure if I would have if I didn't have that issue (the insurance). Instead I used Kat Miller at Mount Olympus Midwifery at St. Marks and had a fabulous experience. I'm glad I made the change. Pros: Positive response to complaint Cons: Awful initial experience
