This is locally owned shop, they seem very knowledgeable, and I saved almost 30% on a new Amana bottom-freezer refrigerator buying it scratch-and-dent there. But 16 months after buying it, frost started building up in the freezer - which caused the fridge side to stop working. The warranty was 12 months and I hadn't bought extended coverage. To their credit they worked with me by phone to diagnose the problem anyway - except that they ended up steering me wrong. I followed instructions, ran the diagnostics, called them and said that the defrost thermostat test failed - it came up S for ""short."" I asked if I should try putting it into force defrost mode, was told not to bother because it wouldn't work without the defrost thermometer, and they referred me to a repair service. When the serviceman came out he informed me that ""S' on that test means pass, not fail. He just put it into force defrost mode to get rid of the buildup (worked fine), and determined that the problem was some gunk built up on the sliding rails preventing the door from sealing. I understand that nobody's perfect, but it's still frustrating to be out $95 for a service call that didn't have to happen. Lesson learned to get a second opinion next time before scheduling service.
