Review content:
I cannot say enough good things about my experience as a parent at Lone Oak Montessori School. The school teaches children ages 2-12. Two of my children graduated from the 6th grade there. We have been in ALL of the classes: Toddler (for age 2), Primary (for ages 3-5) and Elementary (1st through 6th grade). The teachers all have a Masters degree or equivalent in Montessori Education. They are passionate and extremely knowledgeable. The students all get an individualized education which allows for advanced work for students who want it. At the Elementary level (1st through 6th grade) the children learn valuable time-management skills as they record the work that they ""choose"" to do each day. Lessons are taught in very small groups with hands-on materials that allow the students to retain the information. Numerous field trips and camping trips take their education out into the ""real world."" Spanish is taught weekly beginning at age 3. And they have an instrumental program at the Elementary level that is amazing! Children from Kindergarden through 6th grade perform in a year-end play. The oldest students have the chance to perform Shakespeare plays at the famous Folger Theatre on Capital Hill. My children's love of acting started at Lone Oak at age 5!! There is a strong sense of community among parents. It is an amazing education in a small, nurturing environment!
