Review content:
Two men from Mighty Oak Construction in Bloomingdale, New Jersey (recommended by Lumber Liquidators of Oakhurst, New Jersey) arrived at my condo at 8:20 a.m. to install my floating bamboo floor. By 9:05 a.m. they walked off the job. No explanation. No good-byes. I thought they went out to the truck to get something they needed but they never returned! They began to move my furniture and pulled up my rug in one corner. They moved my piano from my living room into my dining room. I asked them if they wanted coffee or water and they said no. They seemed like nice fellows and they took a look at the flooring underneath and starting speaking with each other in Portuguese. I politely asked him to explain to me in English what was happening. He told me the floor was uneven. Then he asked me which way I wanted the boards to go. After a brief discussion with Harold (?) about it, I called Glen (owner of Mighty Oak) for his opinion and he basically said it was up to me. I then called my 82 year old neighbor (who happens to speak Portuguese) to come over and give me his opinion because I couldn't decide. My neighbor and Harold started chatting in Portuguese and, meanwhile, my contractor was ringing my doorbell to return the baseboards for around the floor - he had given them a coat of paint and was bringing them back. I also asked his opinion. The entire conversation with 5 of us in the room took approximately TEN minutes at most. My neighbor left and as my contractor was leaving, I walked over to the window to see what the 2 installers were doing or getting out of the truck and I saw the truck pulling away. So then I sat here for 15 minutes by myself wondering what just happened and where they went. Maybe they were going to the store?? Around 9:20 a.m. I called Mary in the Mighty Oak office to ask. I was shocked to discover from Mary in the Mighty Oak office that these two men ""didn't like the working conditions because there were too many people in the room"" and ""were highly offended because I asked them to speak English"". When I spoke with Glen, he said the men said my neighbor said something that offended them (in Portuguese). Did these installers actually believe that my neighbor was in charge of something? Was Harold, who stands at about 6?3? really scared off by my 5? tall 82 year old neighbor? Really? I simply asked him to come over for a minute to get his opinion. I didn't hear any raised voices or nasty tones either....How could they just walk off the job with no explanation to me, the customer???
