Review content:
My car was with them for a week because I was on vacation. My car is a 2000 BMW 740il with approximately 50K miles on it because I drive it very infrequently. They cleaned the car and I went and paid for it with my teenage son and had him drive it back home. Sunday, 6/26/11 was the first time I drove the car since it being taken back home. When I got in it to drive it, I noticed that the seat was back farther than it normally is. When I tried to move the car seat, the control panel on the side of the seat was broken off the seat and the wire was hanging off the connector. The seat wouldn't operate at all. I am positive that it was not like that when I took it to Rockstars because I had to move the seat because my wife had driven it last and I can't fit into her seat position. So, I moved the seat to my programmed position before I left the house to take it there. So, I asked my son if he tried to move the seat when he drove it home and he said yes; but, it didn't work. I asked why didn't you tell me....I forgot (teenagers!)
Given this, I rescheduled an 8am meeting just to be at their shop first thing Monday. I showed it to the manager and she took no responsibility. She said that she would investigate and speak to owner and call me back. She told me that the seat did not work when she did QA on it; but, thought that I knew that so she didn't say anything about it. I left there and took it to the BMW shop for an estimate. The BMW tech went outside with me and said it looks like someone sat on it and broke the entire mechanism. The panel is broken at the screws and connectors on the electronics module is broken. Its going to costs me $580 to repair.
She never called back so I called and ask for the status. She said that they were not going to pay because its been 3 weeks.
I told her that I could not believe that they ran a business this way. I am a business person myself and the $580 isn't a big deal to me. Its the principle. She stuck to her guns and said no payment. So, I will get it repaired and pay for it tomorrow.
In addition, they broke a window shade in the rear window thats going to cost me another $200 to repair that we found afterwards.
They broke the clip and stuck it window shade back on thinking that it would stay on. Unfortunately, it didn't as we found out last night.
