Review content:
I have eaten at Captain Jack's many times, and have always been impressed with both the food and service, but after the way my friends were treated when dining there for a birthday, never again. THE RESTAURANT IS HOMOPHOBIC AND OPENLY DISCRIMINATORY TOWARDS THE LGBT COMMUNITY My friends (a female couple) were there to celebrate one of their birthday's, and while there were several other birthdays being celebrated in the restaurant that received the obligatory singing and cake, my friends were ignored, even though the non-birthday girl told the staff they were celebrating a birthday. My friends are classy, educated people, who know how to act appropriately in a fine dining establishment. When they spoke to the manager on the phone, this was his reply: ""well... uummm.... you know we are a family restaurant"" She told him she was there with her family and he said "" well... maybe we have a different way of seeing things."" I'm stunned and sickened that a restaurant of that caliber (or so I thought) would be so openly discriminatory, especially since they are so close to one of the largest LGBT communities in Southern CA (Long Beach) and undoubtedly have had a great many LGBT people dine there and spend alot of money. I will never eat there again, and will not recommend it again (I've sent many people there) and I'm calling out the management to make this right, apologize to the community and my friends, invite them for another dinner (comped, of course) and get out of the dark ages and recognize that ALL people deserve respect, especially when shelling out their hard earned dollars in your establishment. I'd give it minus stars if I could.
