The credit card machine went down on Valentine's night and they held my party hostage for an hour without so much as a kind word or a cup of coffee. The manager kept disappearing, not keeping us abreast of what was happening, and when asked he became rude and passive aggressive, as if our time was less important than his. We ended up writing a check for the meal. The food itself was mediocre at best, it arrived cold and horribly oversalted. Very expensive and very rude. Small town restaurant disguised as gourmet, and with none of the small town advantages. After I reviewed their restaurant on TripAdvisor, my boyfriend got a call from the owner. He invited us to come back (not for a discount or anything) and asked that we consider changing our reviews! because it will cost him money and ""there's a recession going on."" It is precisely the fact that we're in a recession that we need to warn people about money pits like Beso. Power to the people. Websites like this have empowered patrons so we can help each other. As a small business owner, I must tell you, you have to learn to take criticism. Management at Beso claims that since we didn't complain and decry throughout dinner, then we must have liked it after all. Completely bereft of logic. I imagine if I had complained they would have been even more rude to us than they already were. They commented on my review (which Tripadvisor won't let consumers respond or comment on), shirking their responsibility and calling me an inexperienced diner. They dug up my receipt, published over the internet what I had eaten, what everyone in my party had eaten, how much they believe we ate, and how much we spent. Talk about an invasion of privacy. Any business could go around commenting on every site about why it's not their fault, but the customer's fault, but it's neither sensible or prudent. Cons: Bad food, worse service, the customer is never right
