Review content:
I am confounded by the 2 prior reviews. My son has been attending BTK for 4 1/2 years. It has been the only activity he has stuck with for this long, and I give the academy all the credit for that. Master Montrond is a truly exceptional instructor, motivator, and coach. He has a very special ability to connect with kids. I have watched him teach children with attention and learning problems - he is patient, positive, and very effective. Above all, Mr Montrond uses positive reinforcement. He teaches integrity, humility, and self-confidence. It is hard to believe that he can maintain such a energetic, positive demeanor class after class, day after day, but I truly have never seen him have a ""bad day."" He has also assembled a terrific staff. Clearly they all believe in his method of positive reinforcement. They make classes fun, as well as enriching. He has very little staff turnover. I think this says a lot about the program that he runs. One of the prior reviewers used the word ""arrogant"" to describe him (if they were in fact reviewing the right place). This is totally bewildering, as this is the last word I would use to describe any of the staff. Mr Montrond goes out of his way to treat the students and their parents with respect. He is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. (and I DONT like arrogant people). Another reviewer complained of instructors not showing up. In nearly 5 years, there has never been a singe instance of this happening to our family. The only qualification I would give, is that the school really focuses on building self-confidence, balance, and general athleticism. It does not focus very much on time real self-defense skills. If you want your son or daughter to develop real fighting skills, this may not be the best place. Pros: Exceptional staff. Very positive approach to teaching. Cons: some classes can get crowded
