I am from a large, busy city. I've been a nurse for 20 yrs, and I moved my family to carrollton Ky to live, and experience small town friendship, respect, and close tightnit community living. I gained employment at this particular facility in feb of 2010. This facility is owned by Charles Shontz of Louisville, Ky. He also owns a sister facility in La Grange Ky. Patti Perkins is the manager there. Sherry kelley was the manager in carrollton. Sherry and I both used money oput of our own pockets to buy groceries so the clients could eat. we worked many hours we were'nt paid for, and in the end, a year later, I was fired for a fraudulent claim made by another staff member, even though the claim was disproven. The next day, for defending me, Sherry kelley was laid off after 10 yrs of service. The staff at both facilities are extremely incompetent, especially Patti Perkins. Charles Shontz is all about the profit margin, and really does'nt care about the elderly people that live there and pay their outrageous rent. I have never in my 20 yrs in healthcare service, seen such backstabbing amoung employees, instead of focusing on caring for the elderly. I spoke my complaints, voiced my opinions and ideas for a better functioning facility, and ultimitly, just as I was to take my weeks vacation, was fired. If Patti Perkins does'nt like you, you are of no use. They hardly have food, the bills are paid late, usually after a disconnect, and their boast of homecooked meals, consist of banquet t.v dinners. Servings are cut in half to save money, laundry and dish soap are watered down to stretch longer, and the night shift sleeps when they're supposed to stay awake and make sure nothing happens to the clients. Amanda Dietz of carrollton has no experience in any field and she still remains employed simply because she's a ""close friend"" of Patti perkins husband. putting any and all clients in danger. I would'nt recommend this facility to watch my dog, no less an elderly loved one. I thought small town love would shine through, but I found that this one facility had all the horrors I'd seen in Houston, combined in one small facility, and a handful of staff members. BEWARE... If you value your loved ones, simlpy avoid all cottages in carrollton an La Grange Ky. Avoid all business with Charles Shontz... you'll only get taken, and used.
