Review content:
I have been a fan of Dire Straits since I was in high school. Knopfler's guitars have a unique sound...U2 does also. It was great to hear and see them all in use. I knew that his guitar playing skills would WOW me enough so that no matter what, it would be an awesome show at Ruth Eckerd. It was great, but the Dire Straits songs he chose to play were such a disappointment to me. Romeo and Juliette was awesome and left me drooling for more classics that I had been listening to for the last 25 years. But that was it. Sultans of Swing...by now I pretty much turn that off when I hear it on the radio...it's just been overplayed. Telegraph Road and Brothers in Arms...they are good, but not what I wanted to hear. Could we not have heard Rollergirl, Calling Elvis, Follow me Home, Single Handed Sailor, Porta Bella ...the list goes on and on. The passionate Mark Knopfler fan (like the guy that sat beside me) gave it 5 stars...as a Dire Straits fan first and maybe a Mark Knopfler fan second I can only give it 4 stars...but I loved the show nonetheless!
