Moving to this apartment community was one of the worst mistake I feel I have ever made. I relocated here from a smaller city, looking for better opportunities and to also be alot closer to the school that I am currently attending. In the beginning I felt as if I was pleased with my decision of moving here. The staff was very friendly and curteous, until I actually became a tenant. Once I became a tenant attitudes of the staff quickly began to change and become less concerned for certain needs. The only one that has seemed to remain real was Tomiko, who is one of the leasing agents. But those two in management (Catherine and Bonnie), whoa!! They walk around with their noses in the air and seem to only be motivated by making their next dollar! I started experiencing problems with bed bugs about 2 mths ago, which I addressed staff with the situation once i determined what it actually was. Its been absolutely horrible. Inspite of all the news and media circulating about bed bug out breaks in the city they feel as if it isn't their responsibity to deal with the situation. I was initially set up for an appoint a few days ago by their own pest control agency, but guess what? I waited just about all day for the crew to arrive to perform a steam treatment and they never showed. It was about the last hour of the day for leasing office to close and i then realized I needed to make a phone call to see what was the delay. When I called to ask when or why the exterminators hadn't arrived, they began to act ever so clueless and like they had forgotten about the appointment. I was then told to wait by the phone for a call back in order for me to receive any answers. Once they did call back I was told by Catherine, without any sympathy or compassion, ""It's not our responsibility to handle your bed bugs but our pest company can handle do you a steam treatment for about $400 a room, totalling about $1,200 for 3 rooms. I was so devasted and disappointed because I'm a single mom with one son and this was just something I had never experienced before. We were waking up the next days with bites all over our arms and those little suckers were just crawling around the beds!! I am a very clean and tidy individual, who takes pride in keeping a neat home. I mean I absolutely love to keep a clean home, because it is reflection of who you are and makes me feel great to live in clean evironments. I was just taken back about the level of concern their staff had for me and my child. It was not only about the lack of compassion they had for me but also for the other tenants who lived in this unit. You see, beg bugs are not a normal infestation and if the situation isn't dealt with effectively it could cause bed bugs to keep spreading through this entire unit and even to the other apartments. I was told by neighbors that were having problems with insects but not quite sure of what it was. My neigbor informed me that they wouldn't do anything and she had been making compaints about snail and other bugs that she was unsure of.
