Review content:
Dr. Peterson replaced one of my old fillings with a crown, and now, just one year later, it has to be completely replaced because it was done improperly. My new dentist said he suspects it never sealed correctly to the tooth, leaving space beneath it for decay to get in. The situation is worse now and I might need a root canal. I stopped seeing Dr. Peterson after that initial crown because she had recommended a ton of additional work that wasn't covered by insurance. When I got a second opinion from a trusted family dentist several states away, he said none of it was necessary. In fact, he suggested that she was unethical -- the teeth she'd wanted to fill were absolutely fine, without a trace of a cavity or other problem, and even the most proactive dentist wouldn't work on healthy teeth. He was actually quite upset and said that, from a medical perspective, he couldn't understand why she would have made those recommendations at all except to make money. I'd thought I avoided the worst by never going back to her, but clearly, I never should have let her do the first crown either. I regret the day I stepped into that office and strongly suggest that you find a different dentist in Ithaca. Cons: Shoddy crown, unnecessary procedures
