Review content:
This cozy restaurant is at the bottom of the hill a few blocks from Little Italy where you can reasonably find street parking. Decor isquite European and reminiscent of a little place in Europe. The waitstaff were superb: prompt, seasoned and professional. Reminds me of the European type of service. The owner greeted us warmly and described the menu. You can feel that they care for you, rather than treating you like dollar bills walking through the door. The menu is more European (the owner is a recent immigrant from Italy) with its own distinct style. We had a salad which was excellent with a light flavor and yes, distinct European taste. The mussels and calamari dish was flavorful, not over-powering. The ground veal tortellini we ordered was superb with a distinct (kind of asian) type of spice. As someone with a rule of taking no food home, I made an rare exception for the tortellini. For main fare, the trout, was very fresh and flavored to complement its delicate taste. The veal chop was excellently done, juicy and tender. The tiramisu came in a glass bowl. The cream is lighter and the lady's fingers more tasteful than Valerio's. Overall, this place is quite European, doesn't have the ""mfia joint"" feel like some places in little Italy, gives reasonable portions and the food is excellently done with its distinct style. The price is in line or a bit less than the other little Italy places. I was so impressed with the service that I did tip extra. If you are looking for a warm, delicate place with good food that reminded you of your trip to Europe, this is it. Pros: Warm, cozy, great service, flavor of food, freshness of seafood and more Cons: Doesn't serve soup, ocassional smell of cooking fume.
